Part 1: The Road: The Romans Road
Lesson 1: The Road Out of Eden
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Children will understand that they can’t be good enough to make up for the wrong things they’ve done. They need to be saved from their sins by asking God to forgive them.
Lesson 2: The Wide Road and the Narrow Road.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Children will learn that everyone has to make a choice between accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior or staying in their sins. Most people will choose to stay in their sins and face eternal death.
Lesson 3: The Road to the Cross
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Children will learn that Jesus died on the cross for our sins because God has always loved us, even before we were saved.
Lesson 4: The Road to Damascus
Romans 10:13 For, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Children will learn how they can be saved.
Lesson 5: The Road to Rome
Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Children will learn how to tell others about how to be saved.
Part 2: The Bible: Your GPS for Life
Lesson 1: God’s Word Guides Our Lives
Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
Students will learn that God’s Word has instructions that will help them in every area of their lives.
Lesson 2: God’s Word Points Us to Jesus
2 Timothy 3:15 You have known the Holy Scriptures since you were a child. The Scriptures are able to make you wise. And that wisdom leads to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. (ICB)
Children will learn that every book in the Bible is about Jesus.
Lesson 3: God’s Word Keeps Us from Sin
Psalm 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
Students will learn that the Bible teaches us right from wrong, and the more we know the Bible, the less likely we are to sin.
Lesson 4: Do What God’s Word Says
Romans 10:17 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
Students will learn that they need to do what God’s Word says to be blessed.
Part 3: City on a Hill Scope and Sequence
Lesson 1: Our Foundation
Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Students will learn that everything in their lives should be built on the foundation of Jesus Christ.
Lesson 2: The Wise Builder
Matthew 7:24 Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
Children will learn when they build their lives on Jesus and obey Him, they are being wise. When they reject Jesus or disobey His word, they are being foolish.
Lesson 3: Building Materials
Matthew 5:14 You are the light that gives light to the world. A city that is built on a hill cannot be hidden.
Students will learn that Jesus is the master builder, but they need to surrender their lives to Him so that He can build their lives the way He wants to.
Lesson 4: Letting Your Light Shine
Matthew 5:16 In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do. Live so that they will praise your Father in heaven.
Students will learn that when they build their lives on Jesus, they show Jesus in everything they do and say.
